We are survivors but we have suffered and know the pain that only ex-Jehovah's Witnesses understand. Early 2026, I lost my gifted, intelligent husband and although he died because his body failed him I know the real cause was driven by something that continues to harm others. As a result, he failed to invest fully in our future and make good decisions about his health. After his funeral I stayed with ex-Jehovah's Witness friends who also watched a loved one give up on hope for life in a similar way after leaving the faith.
On the drive home I got to thinking how many more families suffer, watch loved ones in torment, unable to help break the spell of promises broken, observe bitterness deepen over opportunities lost, unable to convince them that the future they have is every bit as amazing as the paradise that was lost. I felt compelled to act - in a protective, unjudgmental, practical way. What resources would have helped me, my friends cope?
I forgive my late husband's choices and accept they were his to make. We are all responsible for our own happiness but the great gift of hope is given by others.
Love is shown by actions not words.
We are now a small group of volunteers, giving our time and skills to create a resource hub and signposting service that might benefit others in the circumstances we faced or have seen others navigate. We hope to ease the journeys of those that follow us. For now, we would like to stay anonymous but welcome your input on how we can develop the service to meet your needs.
